About the School 

Sybil Elgar is an outstanding specialist school for autistic children and young people aged 4 ½ to 22 years old. We have over 50 years experience in providing a holistic and personalised education within a caring and safe environment. Our creative approach, and focus on independent life skills help every autistic child to learn and develop. 

 

About the Role 

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Primary Teacher to join our specialist education team. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality autism-specific education to autistic children and young people, creating engaging and personalised learning experiences that enable pupils to achieve their full potential.

Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals and classroom staff, you will plan, implement and deliver a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to individual needs. You will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive and motivating learning environment where every pupil can thrive.

 

What You’ll Do 

  • Plan, develop and deliver a personalised and engaging curriculum for autistic pupils.
  • Create and implement individualised educational programmes in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide high-quality teaching and learning that meets statutory requirements.
  • Take responsibility for classroom management, including learning environments, staff and pupils.

 

What We’re Looking For 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Teaching degree or Certificate of Education.
  • Experience of teaching within a special school environment.
  • Experience working with autistic children and young people.
  • Understanding of the impact of autism on learning.

This role is a permanent role, for 35 hours per week.
